How does an IELTS center operate? Why did they become a hit to many IELTS test candidates?
Before, IELTS test candidates only had one option in reviewing for the IELTS: self-review. There were a lot of them before that only bought books and review manuals to know about the IELTS test. Getting familiar with the questions were not much of a problem; however, the trouble happened when they sought for answers to their confusion with the question types, particularly in speaking and writing. Most of them were struggling in developing their ideas for both sections as they were not sure if they were actually doing the right thing.
What IELTS test candidates used to do before was to study in groups. This way, they were able to share their thoughts and ideas with other people. It was an opportunity for them to have a clear understanding of the test. This scenario is the inspiration of an IELTS center. The idea of having a team working together to brainstorm and to share learning helped build our IELTS review centers.
Today, many individuals are found in centers like in IELTS Cebu and Manila as they take up the challenge in reviewing for the test. The self-review style has lost its potential and efficiency as students in IELTS centers are guided by instructors. Here are another few reasons why IELTS centers are better than self-reviews:
- Interactive learning. In an IELTS center, students not only have interaction with their classmates but also with their instructors. Raising questions when an idea is confusing has been very helpful to the students. Compared in self-review where you can get stuck on a question, classes in the IELTS review center promote interaction and two-way discussion among students.
- Coaching. This is something you cannot benefit from a self-review. Through coaching, students are presented with their strengths and weaknesses. As a result, students become aware of what they need to work on more. With coaching, instructors can directly give advice and provide feedback to the students.
- Mock exams. In IELTS review centers, mock exams are scheduled weekly to evaluate the progress of the students in their programs. This is a good way of gauging whether the students were already ready to take on the real test. IELTS instructors advise their students on areas that need more effort in developing their skills. Also, speaking mock exams is given where a real speaking test is simulated. This will make the students prepared on how to behave and respond in the real test.
The history of the IELTS review is all rooted to the increasing demand of review centers in the country. IELTS centers have emerged to bring the highest and most effective training for the exam.
